Wednesday, April 27, 2005 [] Burnt to a bloody cinder. Really sunny here. Not so hot in the shade but by god the sun is strong. Was out chainsawing this evening for the fella I work with. He's scared of them so didn't dare saw up the tree. So beautiful with the tide going out and the fishes jumping out of the water. I've been reading Niall's blogg and this Sunday, April 24, 2005 [] "One day I will leave this world and Dream myself to Reality" - Crazy Horse 1874 [] Have had a real lazy weekend. We went to look at an apartment today but it could have been in the North Pole it was so far away. Bit of excitement yesterday when B's torusers caught fire at the barbeque. Lucky for her they were linen and not man-made. She has a couple of wee blisters but nothing more. I got a bit burnt on my hands trying to put her out. Funny as an after thought but definetly NOT funny at the time. We have to get the dog mot'd tomorrow so that she can get her passport to come back into the UK/Eire. It takes 6 months from the injection until she is ready to travel. I'm definetly coming more and more on the side of just going over and finding any old job and then going on from there. I've sent to date 50 applications so the main hindrance seems to be my geographical location - or at least I hope that is the case. On a lighter note the swallows have come back so it must be summer. Friday, April 22, 2005 [] Soooo Friday at last. Made a bit of a mistake on the bus tonight. B and I had gone shopping and we met someone we knew. She had her birthday and was having a party tomorrow night. So I thought I said "God fornøyelse" = have a good time, when in actual fact I said "God fordøyelse" = good digestion. B nearly split her sides on the bus and the girl looked like I was an eejit - which of course I was. My sister Joan bought Shona and Kenana a car yesterday. A Renault Clio Oasis 1997. Seems like it is a good car with full MOT and so on. She is now going to take an intensive driving course. It will do her good to get out and about on her own terms. Helen came back today with piercings and tattoo so we'll have a good look at that when she comes out tomorrow. Tuesday, April 19, 2005 [] Shona is home Yippee:-) She has a heart problem that she was apparently born with. Her heart has now decided it wants to be noticed and so she is in considerable pain. Her Aorta is on the wrong way or something and a valve is not what it should be. So add thestress she's been under lately and you have heart problems. She'll be ok so we are very relieved. As far as we are aware they are not going to do anything yet. Saturday, April 16, 2005 [] At last Shona told us something. She had told everyone, including the nurses not to tell us anything in case we got worried DUH!!! She has a faulty heart valve and they are trying to suss out what to do. Looks like a trip home is on the cards soon. They have more tests to do before they can definetly say one way or the other what they will do. So it basically is still up in the air. Thursday, April 14, 2005 [] Still no word on Shona. We call the hospital every day but all the information they can give is that they are still taking tests. She's having a heart and lung check tomorrow. The problem is that her blood pressure is still very low and they don't know why aparently. In any case the trip to Rome is off. Tuesday, April 12, 2005 [] Ruth was 16 yesterday and as we were celebrating we got the news that Shona is in hospital. She collapsed at work yesterday and they took her straight to casualty. She has been there having tests done on her ever since. It goes from being a blood clot in her leg to a clot in her heart to something else. Basically they are clutching at straws. She is in quite a bit of pain but from all accounts doing ok. Sort of buggers up the trip to Rome (she and Helen are supposed to be leaving on Saturday). We have been told not to cancel it before the test results come back on the heart and lungs tomorrow. Hopefully she’ll get out and get to go but if not we may be able to move the flights. Helen arrived in Derry today so no doubt she will go straight to Altnagelvin. Stressing when you don't know what's happening. Monday, April 11, 2005 [] Helen is off to Derry tomorrow and then they are both off to Rome on Saturday. Shona took ill today and is in Altnagelvin for checks. Hopefully she will be fine to travel on Saturday. I rang Kenan tonight but it is such a shame as he understands very little of what they say to him in Derry. I had to ring B's sister and get all the info and then ring him and explain it all in Norwegian. Never mind. It'll all be ok. Ruth was finally 16 today and she was a bit huffy that we didn't make a big fuss of it. We don't celebrate 16 as a big birthday the same as the locals do. Ah well. Thursday, April 07, 2005 [] I've been getting some really annoying calls from the UK. When I answer they hang up. They ask for me by name or middle name and then, the instant I answer they hang up. Don't have a clue what that's all about. They use a secret number so it's impossible to trace them. Monday, April 04, 2005 [] Bit of a quiet boring day at work today. Although I did get to go to the opticians and got a free eye test. My right eye is getting weaker but not enough to bother with changing glass in my specs. I had to get the test done so that I could complete the eye test form for the police force. Feeling very far away from our youngest girl. Need to do something about that before it gets out of hand. Saturday, April 02, 2005 [] I've just watched Clickonline on BBCWORLD and they gave a tip for a digital photograph management programme. It's called picasa and can be downloaded free from www.picasa.com I've been playing around with it and it seems pretty good. It has a lot more options than the Adobe one I use now. |
