You need to look closely
[21:06]

I came home from work today to a wonderful sight. The swans have successfully hatched 5 cygnets. This taken straight over the road from my house. You may remember the same swans swimming by the 'phone box at new year!!!

Well, what seemed to be starting off to a crap weekend turned out quite well. I had a good walk today with my mate Joerg, who had intended to work here for the summer. He had a disagreement with the new owner of the Hotel and left this evening. Never mind, it was really good to catch up with him. He spent last year travelling the world and of course I wasn't at all jealous of the stories he came away with. Jungles and never ending sands. It would seem to be OK for some but it wouldn't be for me I think. These excitement would kill me. I'm back at work after a long break tomorrow. Nothing exciting planned for the rest fo the week but we'll see what happens. B and I have decided that we will not be going on holiday this year as we really can't afford it so we'll make do with a couple of trips away for the weekends. Better to get other things sorted first.

Not too bad a weekend. Made lots of decisions and I just have to implement them tomorrow morning before I go to work. Not looking forward to it but I'll go through with it anyway.
Nathan has his last exam tomorrow - science. He's pretty happy with it so i hope he does well enough to show the amount of effort he has put into it over the year.
B and Ruth back from Denmark today so I guess i'll hear from them at some point later on.
Roisin spent the day with me yesterday and I took this pic of her doing her nails (with lipstick on a cotton bud)!!

Shona and I had a very productive day today. She and i left Tarbert at 7 this morning and i took her to Glasgow to get some stuff for her flat. She spent a wee bit of money and we managed to get everything except the curtains she wanted. We are both relaxed and I really enjoyed the day with her. No kids no stress just we two. Kenan was watching the kids and seemed to enjoy it.

ps - I still haven't managed to pluck up the nerve to bin the boots !!!!
[18:32]
I had a very nice walk today. I went up to Stob Odhar, which at 562m is the highest one around here. There's a path almost all the way there and it's not too steep at all, so a nice relaxing stroll. I even managed not to feed the ticks which are abundant according to the news.
At last weigh in I was 84.5kg and i'm really pleased about this. I think i've told everyone.
I'm off to Glasgow for some shopping with Shona. just the two of us. i really can't remember the last time I went into glasgow for a shopping trip. I've no plans to buy anything but just want a wee wander around.
Euan is coming over for the boat race at the end of the month and may bring a visitor or two with him. We'll see who turns up.
Pic from today. Islay and Jura are in the background.

WP and I managed to get to the top of Nevis yesterday. A pretty easy climba s the path goes all the way to the top. more of an endurance than a climb really as the gradient is pretty much the same all the way up. The view wasn't there but we were (see photos). For a bit of fun see the post for 07 May 2006.
Also a little comment on my dear old friends who've seen me on ranges in Norway, Scotland and the Irish hills. After 15 years and 3 re-solings, their time has come. Even as i write this I'm loath to put them in the bin but they're done in. Sad when they get so comfortable that they fit like a second skin.

It's been a funny old day. Started off well with the fact that I'm now under 86kg for the first tike in 18months. Really pleased about that. Did nothing for much of the day except fart around. Getting ready for the big trip on Monday but I've developed a sore throat and i hope it stays as only that. Here's a graph of my weight loss (sad git I know but it helps). The general trend is downward with a coupleof hiccups.

Seems like my postings are getting more and more infrequent. Anyway a lot has happened since last post - not all good but the weather has brightened everyone up at least. WP's old cat Sandy who was almost 19 had to be put to sleep. I always made jokes about the old thing but never meant it really. She will be sadly missed I'm sure - it's a long time to have a friend.
In the meantime WP and I have been plodding up the Munros. We have planned to do Nevis next monday (8th), although we have plumped for the tourist route. I think WP will find it very easy after some of the things I've made the poor soul do - see attached pic. Nathan had his first of many Standard Grade exams today.
