Tuesday, November 30, 2004 [] Sitting in the uni' doing my greek homework before I start the course in half an hour. Going training straight afterwards so a busy day for me altogether. Ordered my new speedtouch modem 10 days ago and the bloody thing hasn't come yet. Hopefully soon. Sunday, November 14, 2004 [] No breakfast in bed after all. Slept really badly last night for some reason and in one of the wakening moments I decided to go up into the snow early on today. So I got up and got my gear ready and went up 800m into the snow. Took the dog with me and we wandered around for about 3 hours. Many of the rivers were in flood as it was sleeting and the snow was beginning to melt. Ended up I had to throw the dog over the rivers as she is only a wee short-arse so she would have been swept away. Had a great time and was able to relax. Came home around 1.30 and B. made me my lunch and then I chilled out in front of my Inspector Wexford book. Friday, November 12, 2004 [] Friday night and snowing. I'm hoping that it will not lie as I want to go for a wee run later on with the dog. Brought a huge pile of wood home from work today and that will be well burnt over the weekend as the colder weather settles in. Fathers day here on Sunday. Looking forward to being spoiled. Hopefully no breakfast in bed though. I would much rather be called down to brekky in the kitchen. Thursday, November 11, 2004 [] Just back from the gym. Spent 2 hours doing small amounts of everything to get into the mind-set again. Went for a sauna and the bloody thing wasn't even warm yet. Dozy receptionist forgot to put it on when I asked. After that I was climbing with Ruth and the activity group she is with one evening a week. I was the safety man as I am the only one with a license to climb. They got a hold of an instructor to help with the other girls. I wasn't too keen to take full responsibility for kids that were not mine. Absolutely pissing it down this evening. Forecast for sleet and snow at the weekend. Monday, November 08, 2004 [] Got the all-clear from the doc today so it's full steam ahead. Really looking forward to the trip to Denmark. Have been in on their internet pages and seeing what the boat to Denmark has to offer. I've been on the boat to Newcastle many times but I've never been on this new boat. Saturday, November 06, 2004 [] Had to go to work this morning but I managed to get to the kid's school in time to see Ruth sing "The Rose" and Nathan sing "We are the World" with his class. They were fantastic. Ruth was very nervous but I must say the whole school was behind her when she got up onto the stage. She sang to about 800 people and she was fantastic. I can't sing to myself so I was impressed even that she got up onto the stage. She has been through an enormous amount this last 2 years and to see her on the stage was heartwrenching. She sang well and clearly although it was easy to see how nervous she was. The headmaster came over to her and gave her a big hug before and after the song. Even B. got a hug from him. The school (St.Pauls)has been fantastic all throught he troubled times and has stood by her and adapted to her needs. WOW. Nathan was really good too and had a great time. His class mates had electric guitars and were really good and I could see his fingers itching to get a hold of the guitars. Xmas coming soon!!!! He can play acoustic so he would really enjoy it. Any ideas what the best type is? Friday, November 05, 2004 [] Such is the role of the parent. Sitting in the uni' waiting for Ruth to be finished with her disco night. She was promised an evening at the Youth Club disco if she had good reports and so on from school. Se had excellent reports and so she got her evening. It would have been pointless for us to drive in and out of town (35min drive) for the sake of a few hours. So we are dossing around B's office and will collect Ruth at 12. Nathan is at home watching a film on the internet. Chosen by us and not him so that was a bone of contention. He is only 13 even though he looks 18. Thursday, November 04, 2004 [] First day back at work today. The happy clapper that I work with wasn't so much of a pain in the arse today. Pissed down all day today, snow on the mountain tops and miserable all day. The dog and cat seemed to have worked out a pact. If the cat plagues the dog a lot then B. feels sorry for her and lets her up onto the sofa. The cat is allowed anyway but it is amazing that the cat just leaves the dog alone as soon as she gets onto the sofa. Cooperation between species for a mutually beneficial end - symbiosis? Wednesday, November 03, 2004 [] Bit of a risky business, blogging at work. Monday, November 01, 2004 [] So mad this evening. Got my gear together and got into the car and was half way to the gym when I discovered that I'd left my wallet with membership card and money in it at home. Had to turn around and come home. So pissed off I'm going for a run instead. |
