Friday, June 15, 2007 [] With the recent spell of crap weather my knee is giving me jip. The kids bought me some nice things in advance of Fathers Day so that was really goo. i delivered Shona's freezer to her and the shelves for her cupboard so she is well pleased. Nathan in the local newspaper today (The Squeak) for his participation in last weekend's ceilidh. I'm looking forward to Pierre and Euan coming over next weekend. Should be good. I've not much planned for the weekend. It'll be a wait and see weekend. Wednesday, June 13, 2007 [] Well i hope that's the last time for a while I'll be putting the black tie on. I was in Glasgow today for the funeral of my Dad's brother. I hadn't seen him since my Mum's funeral. My cousin Alan hadn't changed much in the 30 odd years since i last saw him. He was an only child and it has been hard on him i imagine. Some of the things the minister (a lady one too) said could quite easily have applied to my dad. He too was quite a quiet man who didn't like showing feelings in public or even to us at home, but we knew. It seems then that this was the way they were brought up and that was how they handled things. My cousin Wilma was there and a few other cousins but I hadn't seen Wilma in years and have agreed to go down to Stratford and visit her during the summer. Funerals are so surreal, it seems to be all about catching up and the sad thing is I know no more about the life of my cousin Alan than i did before the funeral. Sad but hey life goes on. Sunday, June 10, 2007 [] Wow what a day. 24 years married today. Nathan was at a ceilidh last night and was asked to sing and play and got on very well by all accounts (as late as 2am!!!!). I had to go and get him at 11.30 this morning. 2 minutes from the spot I should collect him a pod of around 15 dolphins were playing and I got him and returned to the spot (between Skipness and Arran). I was enthralled, as was Nathan. The noise of them exhaling was something i was not prepared for, a fantastic moment of my life. There was a noticeably young one jumping out of the water, so it either had the urge to do so or sea lice- I'll never know. Later, Nathan played for Helen, shona and the wee ones in my house and we had a wee bit of a sing-along. Wonderful stuff. Going to bed feeling pleased except that B wasn't here but have been on the 'phone several times today to herself. Saturday, June 02, 2007 [] Not much happening here really. I forgot to post a pic of the swans I mentioned in the last posting. Here it is, the same swans swimming around the 'phone box at high tide. It's a bit dark but then it is new year's night. Thought I might go for a long walk today but instead just went up to Shona for lunch and brought Roisin home with me for a wee visit. I've promised Nathan that I'll try and get him to the Connect music festival in Inveraray. Tickets are £50 for 2 days - so he'll have to earn it. |
